Unfortunately, the Nationals pitching has been really bad this season. In order to play the spoiler, the Nats will have to ride their solid offense and hope their relatively young pitching staff can string together enough solid outings to shut down a couple of relatively potent offenses.

On the other hand, the Nats have enough offense to make things very difficult for two teams whose playoff fates are still yet to be determined. This is an important developmental opportunity for this young group because they will be playing meaningful games with playoff implications for their opponents, but this is also a big opportunity for them to build momentum for the season.

This may be a lost season for the Washington Nationals, but they have a young developing core of offensive players headlined by Juan Soto that could very well play spoiler for two playoff hopefuls to end the campaign.
