Phoenix black panther 100
When a deranged Celestial called Zgreb the Sorrower attempted to tear the Earth apart, the Avengers were successfully able to subdue it. While Odin wanted to nail the fallen Celestial to the Moon as warning to the others that would come, the team buried the cosmic giant under the plains of what would become the modern-day country of South Africa instead.
Over the years, the Avengers also fought against numerous time travellers seeking to reshape history to their benefit, initially coming into conflict with a time-displaced Tony Stark. While Mephisto attempted to seduce and torment Tony into selling his soul, the Avengers stood by and watched, obligated not to intervene with their enemy's scheme.
At some point, Mephisto approached a young Thanos and convinced him to travel to Earth to challenge the Avengers in order to prove his might. The Phoenix Force has been pitting these heroes and villains against one another, giving them small amounts of its power in order to determine the most worthy.
As previously mentioned, Captain America and Doctor Doom fought in the first round. However, Doom eventually forfeited and Captain America emerged victorious , leading to the Phoenix taking Rogers back to the White Hot Room, an otherworldly plane maintained by the Phoenix itself, where it's been keeping the other chosen contenders.

Of the six remaining fighters, Black Panther and Captain America are likely the two most preferable: Red Widow and Namor have both threatened the world repeatedly, and are major enemies of the current Avengers.
Them gaining a massive power boost bodes well for no one. Shanna the She-Devil and She-Hulk are both heroes, but both have also gone through serious conflicts lately -- with the events of Empyre briefly corrupting both women and even briefly killing Jennifer Walters.
